BRISTOL International Airport has stepped up its car clamping campaign in the wake of the terrorist atrocities in America.
The airport says it is reaffirming its commitment to clamping in a bid to stop unattended vehicles being left on the forecourt in front of the passenger terminal. Such unattended vehicles were a security risk, says the airport.

Margaret McNab, the customer services general manager, said: "We have to take these measures for security reasons.

"Parking on the forecourt has always been prohibited, but we try to accommodate customers who wish to be dropped off or picked up.

"For special assistance passengers we provide help buttons on every entrance barrier into the car park, where assistance can be requested, " she said.

A large warning sign advises drivers approaching the terminal they are in a clamping area.

It is backed by extra signs on lighting poles and double yellow lines.

Drivers whose vehicles are clamped will incur a £50 charge, which will increase to £100 if their vehicle has to be towed away.
